1. What special knowledge, skills, and experiences would you bring to the program that would be of value to your classmates and what do you think will be your greatest challenges?
I consider myself a Business Professional by trade and an Educator by nature. Having spent nearly nine years in education and another eight in Corporate America, I feel that I bring a unique perspective to education and UNF’s Ed.D program. During my tenure as a teacher and time as an administrator I found immense moral gratification in the challenge of knowledge transfer. I have great appreciation for teaching and coaching. I understand the modalities of learning and the strategies that increase the probability of it taking place. I have successfully demonstrated my teaching, coaching, and administrating prowess with students as well as adults. As a business professional I realize the disparity of effectively educating to enable success. I believe there are many faces to education, I bring an understanding of unconventional educational arenas and optimal methodologies for those sectors. Within the fabric of sound business a common fundamental thread is education. Although I am not naive enough to believe that I am an educational expert, I am comfortable that my experience and ability will contribute to the development of instruction and peer interaction.
I am extremely excited about pursuing an Ed.D. at UNF; however, I do accept that there is an apparent gap that exists between where I am and where I would like to be. My greatest challenges lie in investigating existing approaches and developing creative additions that will provide a significant enough impact to move the needle. As demanding as it may be, I am looking forward to the empirical analysis of applicable data and designing effective techniques of instructional delivery to assure ownership. I embrace these challenges and welcome the academic development.
2. Describe what you think would be your greatest challenge in successfully completing the doctorate in educational leadership.
Aside from developing creative additions to existing educational approaches, I feel that my greatest challenge will be contributing ‘enough’ value. I respect the discipline based doctoral degree of education (Ed.D.), and the hard work that precedes it. I feel that for a scholastic body of work to yield the greatest impact (particularly in sales training) all of the examined literature and newly developed ideas must be simplified into a succinct system, a distinct organizing principle that governs every initiative. I accept this challenge with reverent confidence and look forward to creating an appealing dissertation that is not only theoretically practical but applicable and practiced.
3. What personal and professional goals do you hope to meet through earning a doctorate and why do you think the UNF Doctorate in Educational Leadership is a good fit for your goals?
eBack9, Inc., a sales training and consulting company, is an educational catalyst for corporate, non-profit, and government entities alike. Because of my ambition for achievement, appetite to learn, and passion to help others succeed, I am committed to developing eBack9, Inc. into a comprehensive communication curriculum that will act as the rule and guide to relational development in all professions. eBack9’s mission is intellectual ownership and on-demand execution; Performance because of who you are not what you have been told to do. Education is the cornerstone, and efficacy of that dictates its success. Training in these areas is typically delivered as shared best practices and not necessarily taught but told. I think that when a more educational approach is taken edification exponentially increases. By breathing true learning principles into these environments, we began to call its rightful name and amplify its intent. Life long learning and scholarship is universal and should be a part of everyone’s intellectual infrastructure. Fortunately, because my personal and professional desires have collided, my pursuit of an Ed.D. from UNF achieves these two objectives simultaneously. I hope to gain the wisdom of a scholar, seasoned awareness of reigning thought leaders, and the accomplished confidence that illustrates profound proof. I have studied at UNF, receiving my M.Ed., and remain optimistic that in the Ed.D. program I will be stimulated, taught, and driven to evolve eBack9, Inc. into the comprehensive communication curriculum that I imagine it to be. By authorizing me to earn an Ed.D. from UNF, you stretch your tenets into uncharted atmosphere acquainting an exceptional audience to the educational aptitude of UNF’s Ed.D. Department.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration for entrance into UNF’s Ed.D. program and I look forward to intimately working with you all in the near future.
